You’re so blue!
SUMMER VACATION
An afternoon on Lake Tahoe, water migrates in color from the icy spray coming off the innertube, to clear turquoise just skimming the surface, to bright blue open water, to just-shy-of-black in the deepest part of the lake.
Nature can be so monochromatic! Monochromatic… say it… it sounds boring. But nature is anything but boring.
Monochrome has personality.
It’s comfortable like worn denim jeans coupled with a chambray blouse and a navy blazer.
It’s daring like a flamenco dancer’s vibrant red hairpiece, high heels, and layered skirt swirling, twirling in constant motion.
By definition, the use of one color in varying shades, tints, and tones. Monochromatic décor is bespoke; an application of a single color to a multitude of surfaces. Paint, fabric, flooring in light, medium, and dark hues, mixing patterns and textures, blending to mimic nature’s perfection.
Rely on a signature color to expertly curate a whole house design. Walk with me through a foyer painted a cool white with a green undertone. Enter the kitchen to find painted cabinets imitating fresh rosemary paired with crisp white subway tile. Continue into the dining room where guests are surrounded by muraled walls reproducing springtime flora and fauna of the English Countryside. All three rooms united with varying shades of green. All three greens; independent, cohesive, bursting with interest.
Flood an entire room with a single color. Color drench floor, ceiling, walls, upholstery, art, décor…oh my. Intense? Yes! An elevated modern vibe.
Look around. Absorb nature’s repeated use of a single color. Take inspiration. Because, nature is anything but boring!
