What Does Summer Say to You?
Bo is ready for Summer…
Summer tells me to nap on the couch with the AC blasting. Dine al fresco. Clear off the counter and reduce the “house noise.” Bury my toes in the sand. She pushes me to replace old floaties, clean the outdoor kitchen, and plant tomatoes. Summer promotes long days of activity and lazy evenings gathering with friends.
How does Summer decorate her house?
Inside, Summer trades heavy wool blanket for light weight cotton. Duvet covers are emptied and fresh white sheets make the bed. She opens curtains and washes the windows. A fruit basket overflowing with fresh citrus sits on her kitchen counter. Antler décor is traded for ocean themed accessories.
Summer’s home adopts a light and bright, free and clean, lazy and casual vibe that screams,
“Come inside and cool down.”
Outside, Summer digs out her plastic beverage pitchers to fills with lemon water. She sets her table with a madras plaid tablecloth, bright color napkins, and Italian inspired melamine plates. Terra cotta pots overflow with drought-tolerant blooms. Outdoor lanterns are washed and set with fresh candles. Seat cushions and all-weather pillows are refreshed and laid out. Summer stocks a wicker basket with brightly colored beach towels.
Summer’s yard is prepped for playtime and relaxation, organized and impromptu gatherings, gardening and grilling designed to coax me outside with the motto,
“Fresh air and UV rays are good for the body!”
Contradictory messages are Summer’s forte; lazy and active, inside and out, clean surfaces and play in the dirt. One thing is for sure, Summer is Simple. Weightless. Carefree.
