Let’s go fishing.

Cole & Son Acquario Wallpaper

I don’t know if it’s the feeling of movement, the colors, or the whimsey, but fish wallpaper makes me smile and Cole & Son Acquario is my favorite. It’s iconic.

Now, there are a boat load of nautical décor themes one can include in any space. This week we are focused “sole”ly on fish.

The girls and I went to the Charleston Aquarium to watch the fish, feed the sting rays, and play with the otters. Our senses were stimulated; sight, sound, touch, feel, smell, taste (they have snack bar). There’s a bald eagle named Liberty and a gang of recovering sea turtles all named after flowers. We even dunked our hands in the water table; the celebrity under the surface, the star fish!

I took pictures of fish swimming. A lot of pictures. Why? Because I had to keep repositioning myself so I wasn’t catching my reflection in the glass wall. I nearly pulled a mussel.

Fish invoke a myriad of feelings when incorporated into interior design. They hook, line, and sink us.

They are playful.

They shimmer.

They appear weightless.

It’s easy to incorporate fish into your interior design. Every style of decor is on board with fish; coastal, colonial, cottage, industrial, modern, traditional, transition. They are all caught in the net.

Throw a needlepoint trout pillow on your playroom couch. Paint an underwater world on your daughter’s wall. Hang a taxidermy wide mouth bass in the Man Cave. Wallpaper the laundry room with a playful fish pattern. Put a beta fish on the kitchen counter.  Better yet, get a giant fish tank (I mean really, really huge) and use it as a focal wall.

Don’t stop there; aquatic life is a happy life. Dive in, get whale size fishy.

Fish wallpaper, fish fabric, fish statues, fish pictures, pictures of you fishing, fishing poles, fishing bobbers, fishing poems, books about fishing, wine glasses with fish stems, fish, fish, fish. What could be more fun?

Honestly, a dinner featuring pan fried halibut with lemon butter sauce could be more fun…

Caroline feeding a sting ray.

Just a few fish casually swimming around.
