Total Relaxation.
Calgan Rogers - completely relaxed
A facial. The ultimate luxury. Sixty minutes. Subtle lighting. Warm blankets. Fancy lotions and potions. Gentle massaging to cheeks and temples. Impossible to stay awake. Total relaxation.
The human body experiences five senses; sight, sound, smell, taste, touch. Senses trigger emotions. Emotions elevate or reduce stress. Home should be
Safe. Serene. Tranquil. Relaxing.
I ponder. Is my home relaxing? What do I truly need to feel calm? What do my roommates need for peace?
Most days, it’s possible to indulge my senses to the point of relaxation. Attention to another’s needs requires a bit of focused energy. After all, we all deserve to experience relaxation. Family harmony.
What do you need to relax? Start by engaging your senses. Sight, sound, smell, taste, touch. Open your mind. Truly study your environment.
For me…
Sight – Clean spaces. Very little clutter. Organized coffee table accessories. Made beds. Pillows fluffed and in their places. Clothes in the closet organized by color. Manicured yards.
Sound – Soft background noise. The TV on. Talking. Conversations. On low volume like 8 or 10. Just enough to avoid complete silence.
Smell – Citrus; lemon, orange. A homemade concoction of water, vinegar, and essential oils in a spray bottle to deodorize my surroundings.
Taste – The essentials - Diet Coke (the coffee of champions), chocolate covered strawberries (an illusion of a healthy treat), homemade chili (a savory blanket of heat and spice).
Touch – Silky pillowcases. Warm slippers. Couch cushions that envelope. Cool marble. Freshly vacuumed carpet. Pages of a good book.
I challenge you.
