Panic!

Ninety-eight days until Christmas! Ninety-eight days!
The panic starts to set in.
It’s September 19. Retail Halloween, Thanksgiving. Already gone. Christmas in full force. It’s coming.
The panic starts to set in.
Matt likes BIG Christmas. Ornament overload. To give and give generously. Entertaining en-masse.
I prefer little Christmas. Green branches. Twinkle lights. The gift of time. Intimate dinners.
We compromise – a healthy balance of all out and subdued.
Ninety-eight days until Christmas.
The panic starts to set in.
My brain races… Seasonal magazines. Holiday entertaining books. Peruse. Retail therapy. Browse. Think. Needs verses wants. Invest in good greenery. Hallmark movies. Color-scheme. Ribbons. Glass baubles. Careful. Feathers. Berries. Pine cones. Kitschy or refined. Byers Choice. Nutcrackers. Wreaths in windows. Plaid. Fur. Christmas dishes. Specialty candies. Poinsettias. Garland. Eve lights. Family pictures. Christmas cards. Prime rib. Baking. Parties. Presents.…. it’s so much. Too much.
What really matters. The true Reason for the Season. A little tiny babe who entered the world to do big, big things. Jesus.
Breathe.
Ninety-eight days until Christmas.
I’m not going to panic.

In 2019 I made gingerbread ornaments for the kitchen Christmas tree. Bo wanted to sample my work. Tuesday Bo went to heaven; treats abound for a good dog.
