Maintenance Month
Clean out the pen drawer…
Reminiscing. April 1, 2025. Six months ago.
An intense 30 day self-challenge to clean, purge, and organize. Thirty consecutive days. Cupboards, closets, rooms, inside and out; all touched. Thirty consecutive days. I did it!
One hundred eighty-three days later. October 1, 2025.
Maintenance Month
GOALS
mental - verbal - written
to keep my house in order
A renewed commitment. Not to April’s extreme.
Thirty to 60 minutes a day. Less time than a workout.
Simple, quick, routine. A little bit at a time.
Here are my thirty-one action items in no particular order…
Clean out the pen drawer, organize the wallet, read to save or toss clipped magazine articles, organize holiday wrapping paper, clean out the car, replace dead plants, iron everything in the ironing pile, break down and recycle cardboard boxes, fix broken eye glasses, delete old emails, delete duplicate photos, deep clean all things dog, collect and donate old clothing/books/extra household items, trade in old electronics, replace smoke detector batteries, toss expired food, evaluate holiday décor, wash the windows, get the carpets cleaned, store summer toys, clean baseboards, rotate/update family photos, purge old make-up, sharpen knives, update contact list, clean under beds, test fire extinguishers, deep clean the grill, scrub the fridge, replace burnt out yard lights, dry clean and rehang drapes, binge watch a show….
Thirty-one days. One small job every 24 hours.
No stress. Not hard. Simple upkeep.
Make your list.
Commit to a single daily household task.
Clean, purge, organize.
